Minister of Religion

Job No: SGCS/MOR/1506

Basic Salary: £30,000 PER ANNUM

Accommodation Allowances: Nil

Hours: 38 Hours per week

Location: South London, travel required for events and other activities 

Post Position: Full time post (permanent)

Job Start Date: 01 December, 2020

Job Description
Some of the duties will include:

  • Educating various members of the communities (incl. minority ethnic) on the 5 pillars of Islam
  • Teaching children how to pray
  • Teaching prayer supplements
  • Coordinating/Organising multi-faith programmes to bring Christians, Jews, Muslims and people of other faiths/no faith together.
  • Delivering sermons and having the ability to make some videos and other platforms using technology
  • Coordinating/Organising multi-faith programmes to bring people of other faiths/no faith together
  • Run courses/seminars on Understanding Christianity & Islam for the organisation
  • Supporting minority religions in promoting human rights, religious freedom & equality
  • Coordination of counter extremism programmes for women, children & youth through various preventative and diversionary programmes
  • The Minister of Religion need to be flexible for other duties
  • Supporting engagement with schools, local authorities, police services, other organisations to teach principles of Islam, etc.
  • Offering guidance/advice to local communities especially given the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Working with the guidance from previous Minister of Religion Reverend Khan 

                        Personal Specification

                        • Must be fluent in English and Urdu, Punjabi will be positive 

                        • Master degree holder from a recognised university (minimum qualification is undergraduate)

                        • Adequate knowledge of inter-religious relations
